October Third Friday Recap

Our October Third Friday Art Gallery & Night Market,

featuring Amy Monthei & Brianna Arnolde, was a huge success!

We featured two local artists and we involved small, local businesses as vendors, had live music, food and so much fun. We love bringing our community together to support local artists and small businesses.

Our vendors included Protea Zero Waste, IndiGlow Oils, Cocolani Gardens, The Hele Cart, The Sisters Hale, Straight Up Surf, Lehualani Jewelry, Hana Bana Days, Teppan Legend food truck and Chris Cenatiempo music.

Here at Treehouse Coworking, we encourage everyone to be more sustainable and conscious of their impact on our environment. We're highlighting one of our vendors, Protea Zero Waste, as a small, local business that is doing good for the community and planet. Lori, the founder of Protea is an environmentalist and policy advocate. "At Protea, we want to invite people to do their part in taking care of our Earth. By reducing one’s waste through eliminating plastics, buying in bulk and supporting natural products we can lessen the negative environmental impacts associated with our consumption. To strengthen our community and reduce dependence on foreign product, Protea is dedicated to supporting local products and vendors here in Hawaii." Check them out at our next Third Friday event and go to their website to see their products :

Our gallery will have the art my Amy Monthei and Brianna Arnolde displayed until November 13th.

Amy Monthei is a nationally known legally blind painter residing in Honolulu, HI. She lives a life filled with irony, perceiving the world from a truly unique perspective, channeling those experiences to shape her own philosophy as an advocate and an artist. Amy received her BFA in Visual Art from Grandview University in Des Moines Iowa. Amy regularly shows and sells her work in many regional galleries. Her work is included in many private and corporate collections throughout the United States including UnitedHealth Group, The Mayo Clinic, Claremont Optometry Group and UAB Callahan Eye Hospital. You can find her work on Facebook at Monthei Fine Art.

Brianna Arnolde is a yoga instructor, social change-maker, and acrylic artist.

A Chicago native, Brianna graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa in 2014. She has spent the last 11 years living in Kailua, is an instructor at CorePower Yoga, and is helping to lead a progressive new initiative called Benefit Partners, an incubator and accelerator for radical ideas, projects, and organizations with a mission to bring more goodness into the world.

From a young age, Brianna found art to be a vehicle for both teaching and learning empathy and compassion. Curious and awestruck by humans and culture, Brianna began to imagine and create unique faces within otherwise normal and abstract designs and patterns as she moved through the world.

Putting pen (or brush) to paper allowed these imaginative faces to come alive.

An idealist and optimist, Brianna hopes that her passion of painting the colorful and compelling faces behind the stories she feels should be shared will create space for a little more love, light, and healing.

Amy and Brianna's art will be up until Wednesday, November 13th. Come check it

The face behind Protea. Lori is an environmentalist and policy advocate with a degree in Environmental Studies from Hawaii Pacific University. Originally from Texas, Lori has spent the last 12 years of her life living around the world in California, Brazil and now Hawaii. From saving all the wrapping paper at Christmas as a little girl, to currently pushing to phase-out single use plastic in Hawaii, a zero waste store was all in divine timing.

She currently serves on the Executive Committee for Sierra Club of Hawaii and is an active member of Zero Waste Oahu. Say

hello and introduce yourself at the next

market or around town - she absolutely

loves meeting new people!
